Friday: Arrive and check in to your hotel or suggested bed and breakfast, a few blocks away. After settling in, your first session begins. Here an assessment is completed where both partners share their point of view and areas they believe need improvement. Therapeutic goals are discussed and a plan is jointly created. Couple is then free to enjoy Wilmington and all its sights, sounds and happenings.
Saturday: After breakfast the couple begins to work. From 10am until 1 the therapist works with both partners. After lunch, from 1 to 2, the couple is divided and each receive one hour of individual time. After the individual sessions, the couples return for one to two hours and then are free to enjoy dinner or other evening activity. At this point, the couple has had about 8 hours of therapy or two months of therapy!
Sunday: After breakfast the couple returns for another day or half day of therapy. A lunch break at 1. Couples may depart at 1 or continue from 2 pm until 6pm. During this time, couples practice the tools learned on Saturday, learn more, and address additional issues. By the time the couple ends at 1 they have had 12 hours of therapy or 3 months , if the couple ends at 6pm they worked for the equivalent of 16 hours or 4 months of weekly therapy!
So much gets accomplished when we work without having to wait a week to come back to the same topic! Here, we are able to keep going and work through the issue from beginning to end. No distractions, no getting off track.
